About Serenity Building Design

Based in Yeronga - just south of Brisbane, we are a client-lead, forward-thinking, multi-disciplinary small Building Design practice specialising in residential and small-scale commercial buildings under 2,000sqm. Our design ethos emphasises sustainability and creative use of materials for durability, maintenance, fit-for-purpose, affordability and something a little unique that responds to the clients brief, enhancing both the well-being and the value of your home. 

Serenity Building Design was founded in 2015 by Richard Kretschmer, an enthusiastic Building Designer and a highly skilled project manager having worked for 15 years previously in Queensland State and Local Government roles as a Senior Town Planner covering disciplines such as Strategic Land Use Planning, Transport Planning, Priority Infrastructure Chargers, Planning Scheme reviews, Project Management of Future State-controlled roads and community consultation, Development Assessment of major development fronts, and private consultancy; before transitioning into Building Design. With his multi-skilled background, Richard has always being passionate about architecture, the journey of serendipity and discovery particularly in responding to a client’s brief to arrive at something bespoke, custom and working with clients who share his enthusiasm.

Serenity Building Design operates from Richard's home office in Yeronga, and meetings are typically held on-site. Richard and his family also reside is a beautifully crafted and preserved 1889 circa heritage Federation Queenslander. Richard accommodates his work schedule around the demands of his two children, two dogs and his wife, who works at the RAAF Base at Amberley.

Serenity Building Design also has access to preferred consultants made up of Surveyors, Structural Engineers, Geotechnical Engineers, Town Planners, Interior Design specialists, and equally open to working with consultants and/or builders you may otherwise provide the referral.
